April 28, 2018

Members of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sport Federations (ARISF) joined the SportAccord Convention in Bangkok, Thailand with a packed meeting schedule and an agenda designed to drive sustainability and growth.
A first Council meeting paved the way to the ARISF General Assembly which was followed by a second Council meeting and a joint meeting between ARISF Council and the IOC President and Top Management. A joint workshop ARISF-IOC, amongst other key events, was also held in Bangkok.

At the General Assembly, after acknowledging the Thai organizers for the warm and friendly hospitality and all the ARISF Members for their trust and confidence, President Chiulli thanked the outgoing members of the Council and welcomed the newly elected ones - Mr. Hollowell Secretary General of the International Orienteering Federation and Mr. Fraccari, President WBSC, confirmed as ARISF Secretary General.

FISU was welcomed as the 38th Member of the Association, with ARISF President Raffaele Chiulli outlining the links between education and athletes: “Education is going to play more and more a key role in bridging the gaps between sport and society in general. Our athletes can be role models and can have a dual career, with an active part in the education process.”

ARISF and the International Academy of Sports Science and Technology (AISTS) had been working together closely and realized a Study to better understand the current situation, trends and needs amongst IOC recognised international sports federations with regards to sustainability and they identified the improvements made by ARISF Members in terms of their environmental, social and economic impact.
